PREGRAPHITY is the acronym of the research group related to the study of Prehistoric Graphic Activity included within the International Institute of Prehistoric Research of Cantabria – IIIPC (University of Cantabria).
The IIIPC is a mixed University Research Institute, created at the University of Cantabria by Decree 38/2004 of April 29 (BOC of May 10, 2004), and sponsored by the University of Cantabria, the Government of Cantabria and Santander Universities (agreement of May 19, 2003). Likewise, since 2004 it has been an Associated Unit of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (Institute of History, Madrid, and Institución Milá y Fontanals, Barcelona).
Currently, this renowned research group is coordinated by researcher Diego Garate Maidagan. Its work focuses on the scientific analysis of prehistoric symbolism, with particular emphasis (although not exclusively) on the graphic manifestations found in the Cantabrian Coast (Spain), as a place where this socio-cultural phenomenon proliferated during the Upper Palaeolithic.
